What causes high blood pressure?
In a new study funded by the National Institutes of Health, researchers found that people who consumed more than 2.5 milligrams (mg) of isoflavones a day had an average systolic pressure of 5.5 mmHg than those who consumed less than 0.33 Mg of isoflavones per day.Isoflavones can be found easily in 8 ounces of soy milk that is estimated to contain 22 mg of isoflavones. A separate study also found that eating raisins three times a day can much lower blood pressure. Raisins contain potassium which can reduce blood pressure. Sixty raisins include at least 1 gram of fiber and 212 mg of potassium.
Controlling blood pressure to keep your heart healthy
